Drops returned to Dwars Door Vlandeeren having competed in the cobbles classic last year. This season, the team took on the race which features the famous Oude Kwaremont climb with the goal of delivering team leader, Ann-Sophie Duyck, into a good position to make the final selection.
And that’s exactly what the team did. At various stages in the race, Abby-Mae Parkinson Becks Durrell, Lucy Shaw, Rose Osborne and Abi van Twisk played their part in moving Duyck through the field and towards the business of the peloton. The strong performance was rewarded when Duyck, on home roads, worked herself in to a position to compete at the front.
As the tough 114km race came towards its conclusion, the Belgian once again showed her ability as she went over the line in an impressive 10th place in amongst some of the world’s best.
